Cat-Shaped Heart is an anthology of seven Risograph-printed comics that merge philosophical musings and biographical narrative. Connection to the non-human, animal world is found through the inconsequential, individual bonds I have with cats and my own body. Considering the possibility that we exert a similar influence on our pets as they do us, these zines are asking: "how do we activate and inspire change in each other as vessels of collections and feelings?"
Zines (shortened from ‘magazine’) possess an approachable intimacy, making them ideal for normalizing mundane life experiences (‘perzines’) in a fusion of diary, poetry, and art. Risograph, a reclaimed corporate machine that fuses the accessibility of inkjet printers with the attractive vibrancy of serigraphy, imbues each comic with a lifespan of their own by virtue of the ink’s perpetual smudginess.

- the subtleties of animal-human relationships and mutual activation of one another as vessels of feeling;
- an individual appreciation for the mundane bonds I have with my cat, my body, and our shared animalness;
- questioning what is public/personal through an exchange of deep vulnerability;
- explicit inclusion of trans nudity and queer joy in the face of unrelenting censorship as a survival tactic to disrupt oppressive, cisnormative systems;
